Fireside Tales from around Longford town and county
The stories in these book are extracts from tape recordings that I, Jude Flynn, carried out all over County Longford in Ireland since 1984. I am grateful to the people concerned for allowing me to publish their memories.
At Christmas 1980 i received a gift of a tape recorder from my late wife Mae, and this prompted me to undertake the recording of a portion of the social history of the town and county.
Mae died on January 6th 1982, and I dedicate the first edition of 'Fireside Tales' to her memory.
